Questions due Sept. 5

1. Why did you sign up for fys roots?

I love music and since I wasn't going to be in orchestra or study music in a way that I have been in the past, I wanted to try a new angle at doing what I enjoy.

2. 5 pieces of music to a desert isle...

Easy, (1) I would take the song "Transistor's Radio" on Cloud Cults second album, Happy Hippopotamus (2) Gorgal Bordello's "Avenue B" (3) Beatles's "Norwegian Wood" (4) Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" and finally (5) Defiance Ohio's "Old Dead Tree".

3. Piece of music you associate with a relative.

It would have been my grandmother and her taste of listening to Elvis' Blue Christmas album every year while opening gifts. She had a soft spot for the king, and to this day, everyone doesn't open a present until its on.

4. National anthem.

If I had the choice, it would be "God Says Nothing Back" by The Wallflowers. Its kind of a dark song, but since the first national anthem was written becouse Keys was so moved by his government and fellow countrymen, then mine would have to be on how we, as a society, have become disillusioned by what we are, and not turning thoughts towards what we could be.

5.Music related performance.

During highschool I participated in orchestra. Also, I was a painter for 13 theatre shows at anoka. that could be perceived as non musical, but once your surrounded by music for one month and at least two of those weeks are 18 hour days of painting, then everyone is singing. other than that...nothing unless a person counts the frequent solo concerts that happen in my car during road trips.

6. Question for Gov. Blanco

What would you say is the most positive thing that has come out of the Katrina tragedy?
